think about it this way
2 12's push more air than 1 12''
different subs are made for sq, and spl
take the jl 10w7
more sq than bass but its an amazing sub
but just not enough bass for me
on the other hand 2 12's like these orion hp12D4 subs
they hit really hard

air movement is totally different from volume. a kappa perfect 12 is more sq then a 10w7

My 2 cents... it's easier to turn bass down than to live without enough... go with 2!!!

no not quite, i have herd 2 w7's and i have herd a single kappa 12. the kappa 12 getting reccomended power sounded far better then 2 w7's. it moved lots of air for being a single sub. 2 w7's sound good dont get me wrong but they are not that special. if they were in the wrong box idn. perhaps the kappa had the better box. but you pay for the brand name. thats my opinion.
if you want to see random words i can do that aswell.

There is much more to a subs "sq" then the mear sub itself. We dont know anything about the box or who and how it was made. Not to mention that the frontstage has a lot to do with how you will perceive the base.. will it be nice and crisp or boomy? It could vary with what your running up front IE your midbase. The xover quality could affect this as well, you could have great subs but if the amp has a crappy 6bd xover, it might not sound all that great.

And you do pay for the name but the W7 is far from a "generic" catalogue order sub heh.
