Question Are 15" subs still generally used in a setup?

Reason I ask, I've been on the search for 15" subs, seen a few new ones (looking for older though most likely), but not alot to choose from or not seeing too many.

Are they less used these days?

Tim

up here no one has a 15. mostly 10 and 12 cause of space issues. but some ppl run 15's and 18's.

theres 15's everywhere online. most companies do make em... if your looking for older 15" subs well they will be hard to find cause most of them are either dead of still in use and they dont want to give it up

Powering them is also a problem, alot of 15" are 8ohms instead of the 4 or 2 ohm loads we're used to which means you need a much more powerful amp which drives up the cost not to mention the huge boxes needed....

No.... just.......... no.

It's very rare that I see an 8 ohm sub any more and the fact that it's a 15 vs. any other size would have very little to do with the impedance of the voice coil.

Sorry.

IF you have an 8ohm sub might as well put 4 of them and drive them in 2ohm lol

but they are mostly 4ohm dual 4, 2, 1 and quad coils and ya. lots to choose from just look online

Guess I've been used to searching Ebay too much.

New ones are pretty expensive right? $400+? Hmm, maybe I save up for a bit and just work with my two 10" for now at least. Still planning box to utilize 2 15" as well though.

Bro what do you have for 10s now? How much power? What kind of box? You should look first to see if there is a way to get those 10s louder. Better box, more power. What are your goals for this car? IMO in a Civic 2x10s should be more than enough for a daily driven car. Just noticed your other thread, you want to keep the 2x 10s? then add 2x 15s ? Meet me for a coffee and I will show you what 2 good 10s in the right box on 1100wrms will do in a Cavalier.
