1998 Honda Accord EX, will it need new speakers after new radio?

Hi,

I am about to put an aftermarket Alpine radio in my 98 Honda Accord. I was wondering if I will need to replace all the speakers in the car? I know I have had a few cars in the past, once I changed out the radio the speakers quit working shortly after. It could be that the ohm level didn't match up???

Thanks,

I'll say yes you should replace them, not for any mis-match reason, but more that they are closing in on 14years old and probably rotted away. I have seen cars as few as 5 years old where the cone is just shot.

hondas are pretty good at keeping the weather out thou, so unless the speakers were abused, or you can tell they are bad, they wont sound to much better with a higher powered deck

Use them until they quit working then replace them. In the mean time save up for some good speakers.

I've got an '00 and I never even noticed when my rear speakers went. I'd say replace them asap.
