Okay so i just bought two 12 inch pioneer svc 400 rms 1000w peak 4 ohm subs. I need help figuring out how to power them. I want to do it cheap. I understand if i wire them parallel i need a 2 ohm amp. So doing this would it be better to use a 800x1 @ 2 ohm mono amp or a 2 channel 400x2 @ 2 ohms?

if your wiring them together into 2 ohms then you need a monoblock so the 800x1 will do. if your to power them individually then the other one would work. i would get the mono....

400 watts X2 at 2 ohms probably wouldn't do you any good because you'd be wiring a 4 ohm load to each channel, what you want is 400 watts X2 at 4 ohms. Between a mono and a 2 channel, go with whatever has the features and build quality that you need for your application.

Good luck finding a 2 channel amp that does 400x2@4 ohms on the cheap....go for the monoblk.
