i can't run them in the doors because thats where my mids are. I can't build kicks cause there isn't enough room. So i'm kinda stuck putting them in the rear shelf. I was hoping to play around in the sq circuit this year, so are you guys fairly confident that my imaging is going to be blown to hell. Buildning an enclosure is gonna be really difficult because i've got no room under the rear shelf either. My subbox is under it and there are the wonderful springs going across. My problem with the crossover frequency is that i've got a KQ9 and is has a built in 100hz 18db/octave HP crossover that can't be bypassed,(real smart). Is think gonna work at all or should i just forget about it?

Might wanna just forget about 8's altogether then, unless they'll be strictly for sub-bass. In this case, you likely wouldn't/shouldn't even use those 8's in the lanes.

I would run a 2-way component set with a decent 6" driver.. And forget the midbass.

If your limited to a 100hz HP xover, then xover the subs like @ 80hz..

I would consider selling the kq9 myself, but what ever.

I've got alpine type r 5 1/4 comps and they don't offer much midbass. I prefer 5 1/4's crossed over fairly high like brian c said and that's why i've been looking into midbass. I like to keep my sub crossover low. I think midbass out of a 12" sub sounds bad. Why do you think I should get rid of the KQ9, what should I look into as a replacement?
