Adding a Larger Alt...how big?
#1
I am running about 2000 watts (see signature) off of the stock alternator (130 amps max, 80 amps at idle) in my Mustang. The big 3 wire upgrades have been done and a Yellow Optima has replaced the stock battery. However, I am still taxing the current electrical system.
I am going to upgrade to a larger alternator, however, I am not sure how larger to go. Can someone provide some guidance on how many amps I will need.
Thanks to all.

I would go with an alternator that puts out the most at idle.
