I think it's more a matter of trying different design strategies in order to push the envelope.
Nothing wrong with trying out new things.

^ Some concept cars are impressive and if they make it to market then their validity is obvious. Useless concept cars such as airplane/car hybrids don't impress me at all.
That thing is a "look what we can do" publicity prop with little practical application.

I suppose you are right dukk... just remember what its intended application really is... I think it probably does the job it was designed to do, there just isnt much of a market....
Not too many theaters need 120db of output at 25hz....

Given the output you can get from it, it's actually a pretty good deal.(linear displacement in litres, per dollar spent)
Dan shoulda put on a nice baffle(like the one they had on their display @ CES 2004) on it though. It's pretty cheap that he didn't. Maybe a new vid will surface soon
In any event, you can't deny how awesome that motor and suspension is

^ Depends what you call the "intended application"
If it was to get a bunch of people who will never conceivably buy one talking about it then mission accomplished.
I would think they would have to sell one before it can be considered anything other than propaganda...
