Im looking for a new amp. Probably about 800 watts to 1000 watts for around $500. Any suggestions? It will be powering 2 MTX 7500 12" subs wired to 2 ohm. My only real option right now is an Alpine MRD-M1005 from a local dealer here. I want to stay away from big box stores because I find they don't carry midrange to high end stuff and I prefer to give my business to local boys, internet or area. Thanks again!

The alpine amp you pointed out is a decent one, also you have Kicker ZX amps and Rockford Power. Though for your price range, you may want to look outside the mainstream amps. Check with some of the vendors on the site, or the classifieds has some gems from time to time.

 

I don't think you will go wrong with Alpine, they make quality stuff.

 

Alpine make fine amps. However, you'll find some great buys in the classifieds here - ex: an Orion 1200d for under $300 if I recall (awhile ago - I remember because I should have bought it!!). Just keep looking if you have the time. If not, check out the vendors here - they're pretty helpful. Cheers.
