Question Advice on subs

Hello, I am new to these forums and I'm looking for some advice. I am looking for a sub or two.

I have a Clarion 800 Watt Mono Block. My car is a Grand Am. I live in Saskatoon and I want to buy from a local retailer, not used and not off the internet. I want to be able to hear something before I buy it. So what I am asking is what would you suggest for subs out of all the mainstream brands.

I don't need to set off nearby car alarms, don't have the power to anyway. I just want something thats sounds good and that will last a long time. Budget wise.. I don't know, whatever I need to spend.

I have gone to most of my local retailers and all the salesman pick something and say I won't find anything better for my buck anywhere. So what would you guys suggest?

I will push for DD as I am sales rep, u can get it in saskatoon, at AUDIO EXPRESS
There are many other cheaper brands, but u get what u pay for... so several ppl will push for

DD, Alpine,Kicker, soundstream.... and other good brands. You are best off buyin something good first rather then , because you want it to last

I'm looking for something that will sound really good no matter what the volume. What I've heard about DD is that they make big beefy woofers that are made to be crazy loud, and I'm not looking for that big boom. Do they have a line that is more suited to SQ?

Listen Boston Acoustics at Audio Warehouse and check out some of the entry level DD products at Audio Express.

I went to Audio Warehouse already to listen to check out Clarion and Boston subs. The salesman told me off 800 Watts I need to be running an SPG-555. He also told me its the best bang for my buck etc etc... Then he adds that it would run me $900.00 after taxes for the sub and its matching box. The subs seems great but there must be something else out there that I can buy new that won't cost $900.00! I know I can get 2 10" Type R's for $400.00 tax in and there is no way the SPG-555 would completely destroy them like the salesman was boasting it would.

I'll check out DD this weekend. I was looking at there site but there is no way to tell what line I would be after. Also, how are the Clarion PXW's? I have heard amazing things about them from a couple people who have used them. I would have to go back to Audio Warehouse on a day that a different salesman is there cause the first guy, I swear would have refused to sell me anything other than an SPG-555.

What Clarion amp do you have? If it produces 800 watts at 2 ohms then it is perfect for a pair of Boston G210-4's so your salesman is on crack. The Clarion PXW's are decent units. As far as DD goes I'm not sure what the pricing is, but they are worth the listen.

Shop around and listen to a variety of subs (did the salesman even play one for you?).

DD is good if you have money for them. I confirm that they are very loud, and they sound amazing for SQ install as well, and they do have an SQ driver, check their website, it is the one with a flat looking magnet I believe.

I think it's the DD advertised on the right side of the page. Weird looking magnet.
