Well my amp is 800 Watts at 1 or 2 Ohm.
No the guy at Audio Warehouse didn't even play one for me. In fact he said it would be more bass then I would ever need and if it wasn't then he would just sell me a second one. I told him that made no sense, especially since I don't have the power to run two 1000 Watt RMS subs and he told me my amp could do it easily if he wired them right. That just sounds like complete salesman crap to me...
As for DD, a single 10"(or even 12") 2500 looks like it would do the job. Rated at 750 Watts so a good match. I'm assuming there not crazy expensive.
Also, The Type X's seem to have come way down in price, plus I think I can get a good deal on last years model. Are they worth a second look?

I would honestly consider staying with a Clarion sub aswell, I just picked up the signature series SSW1200 and not only does it pound it is crystal clear, I am running an alpine amp tho, I have had lots of different subs in my car but for sound quality I would have to say that this sub blows all others that I have had in my two door GAGT. There not that cheap but its definitely well worth every single cent it will be a good match for your amp aswell.
