All in One Head Unit Recommendations
A buddy of mine has been asking me about these units; DVD, CD, MP3, iPod, GPS, etc. From some preliminary google searches, it seems that they are like swiss army knives, they do everything but don't excel at anyone particular thing. If you remove the GPS feature the units seem to really come down in price at least giving you the option to add a GPS module.
In any case, are there any Double DIN units that are considered as solid units?
Its been some time since I've been involved with car audio gear. All the gear that I currently own is anywhere from 10 to 18 years old.

I was pondering this debate for a long time before buying mine. I own a Pioneer AVIC Z1 that I bought when it was brand new. I kind of jumped into it head first considering it was the only one on the market at the time that did what it did (Hard drive based Nav, Double DIN 7" screen etc.) I like it, but I'm not super happy with it. When I just bought a new truck and decided to go double din again I was more critical this time. I decided to go with the Alpine INA-W900. It was down to either that or the Pioneer Z110BT. For the price difference I went with the alpine and I am relatively happy. There are nit-picky details that I don't like about it, but they might be fixed with a software update. My advice is to spend A LOT of time playing with each model you're considering in the store before you buy one. In my opinion there is not 1 superior model out there that is better than them all, each one excels in its own area and you'll have to decide what is best for your needs.
Hope this helps.
