I think that what Orion was getting at is:
If you race a Lamborghini Diablo against A Nissan Z the obvious fact is the Lamborghini will win.
But you need to compare price. The Diablo is 8-10x more expensive than the Nissan Z. Just because the Diablo beats the Nissan doesn't undermine the fact that the Nissan Z is an incredibly fast car for the price.
Dollar for dollar, the Nissan is the better deal - you get great bang for the buck. But if you want to go for the best of the best, you'll have to pay the big bucks!

just like the install makes a huge diff on how a system performs

Guys I am almost hooked to those pentagon shaped explodes...there the only thing i can afford right now. But i keep hearing bad stuff about them. How bout this what should i buy if im lookin to spend no more than 400 dollars...2 10" sony explodes or 1 12" Kicker CompVR in a loaded box?

the reason that people say Sony car audio is crap is simple...in all other electronics fields Sony is the leader (imo), they make the best stuff in all fields...except car audio. In a brand name that makes top grade equipment it is weird for their car audio to be mid-low level grade...BUT, the thing about this is that their high end TVs etc... reflect the quality in their pricing, however the Sony car audio is cheap to buy so at least they aren't building garbage and charging you a ton of money for the name like some other companies do *cough RF subwoofers*
