Alpine Amp Comparison

I'm new to the forum.
Been doing a lot of reading because I haven't found anyone trustworthy enough in Calgary selling car audio. Great information.

My question deals with Alpine's 4 channel amps. PDX-4.150 and the MRP-F550.

While I like that the PDX is small and easy to hide, its the 78 dBA Signal to Noise that concerns me. (The MRP has a 100 dBA). Should I worry about this?

Cheers

hey man welcome, i'm in calgary too.

I wouldn't worry, those PDX amps are actually very good, and tons of ppl are using them b/c of their small foot print.

CEA-2006 Power Rating (4 0hm@14.4V = 1%THD+N), S/N 78dBA (Ref. 1W into 4 Ohm): 150W x 4

The newer alpine amps are CEA rated (consumer electronics association).
They developed the standards so that each manufacturer who uses thier standards, has to do the tests and publish thier ratings the same way.

Bottom line, this means they can't lie or cheat on the specs anymore.
So, the old 100 or 105 dB S:N was B.S.

Comparing apples to apples is good.
