Alpine CDA-9835, problems anyone?

I have read the manual and was told it was incorrect. Only on the 9833 and 9835.
What do you need to actually bench test the preout impedance?
I want to know for myself as I am getting conflicting opinions from knowledgable people whos input I respect.

no, its like saying that if an amplifier needs only 2 volts of signal to give max unclipped power, then 5,6 or 8 volts is redundant, in some, not all applications. it all depends on how sensitive your amps are, you know, there feelings, how they feel about the anount of signal they get, haha, anyway some amps, eg, avi, alpine, concept, dont require as much signal as a phoenix gold, kicker or rockford, to get max unclipped output. i have read many times on this board that people say that the alpine h/u's have poor output on the subwoofer preout, i have never found this to be a problem myself, you can always saturate the input of most good amps without any problem, my point is though, you dont have to on some amps , btw, hows the new job mike

I think the main complaint from those Alpine decks was that the subwoofer input clipped way before the other outputs clipped. Not that the voltage was too low. Anyways, I agree with Dave, once you get the voltage the amps need, anything else is really not usefull, and with most amps I have seen it is around 3 volts on the high end.
Also as far as output impedence goes, I got the impression at RTTI from Mark ***uda that it is only a usefull spec if you are running multiple amps off of one output.

Output impedance can also describe the effect that cable inductance and capacitance will have on the system, and as a result, the net frequency response of the system.
I have an Alpine at home to test for the magazine, but more often than not, the output impedance is indeed on the order of 300 Ohms or so.

hey there MIke and Joe! how are u guys. will i see u at cartunes Joe? i shure hope so the shows are sooo lonly without ya. lol. any who were are ya now mike? let me know!
i hear ya on the flachy desplays there lethal. if we could hang fishing luars from our decks and the like i am shure that we could sell a lot more of them. lol i think ya should all try the eclips pieces!

I guess we will just "agree to disagree" on the importance of NET voltage output. My reasoning for making it an important concern comes from the land of home hi fi separates where I noticed over the years that a well matched pre-amp could really make a system shine.
I am actually enjoying being "back in retail" -- It is like "being at camp" -- it is nice to go home at the end of the day and work does not follow you. I have to say I also enjoy seeing my family every night as well.
Visions Langley has a good crew with good attitudes -- it has made the transition quite easy -- I never realized retail could be "fun".

My season is over. No time left over to attend the out-of-town shows and no cash either. I took almost a month off and since I work on commision I am pretty much broke even though I came back with a few days left in the month and was still able to sell more than a couple guys that were on the floor for the whole month.
Going to spend the next month tearing it up on the sales floor so I can buy some goodies for next season. I will probably retire the Toyota from SPL duties and build it as a SQ vehicle and I am going to build the 2002 Civic as a DBDrag car. Haven't decided yet between L7's or Juggs.
You'll have to wait and see...
