It all comes down to setting your x-overs properly. I run a single 12L7 in the trunk of a 94 Cougar with the sub out @ +5-7 and it will rattle the eyeballs right out of your head! I have the 9831. I had the 9807 then upgraded to the 9811 which whent to my wife.

Yes I'm connected to the correct RCA out's.
Sub crossed at 63, front stage at 80 (front stage pulled down 4dB).
Sub output +15.
Amp gains are set correctly. Amp crossovers off except for sub highpass set at 30Hz.
When I hit the MX button the bass in the car is extreme. With it off I have nothing until volume 30.

I've had it at the shop. All they did was pull down the front stage 4dB and give a massive 6dB bump of EQ at 31Hz. Not exactly what I want.

I find most subwoofer preout controls to be inaccurate -- heck even my beloved Rockford RFX9300 only has control from 25-30 I would suggest using an outboard level attenuator -- Rockford makes great ones -- this way you will be able to control just the bass "level" directly without having to change or affect anything else.

check through the settings to make sure sub-woofer is turned ON.I have that deck and with the mx on i get a lot of basa at 20-23 with it off i get a lot of bass at 24-26.I don't even turmm mine up to 30.Soryy but this one is defimately user error, just check the gains on your amp if everyhing is set correctly.Maybe your not getting a strong signal. You are however the first person that i nkow of with this deck not gettig a lot of bass.A gut even did a side by side comparison with the pioneer 9600 and prefered the alpine

Mike - I'm using the RGC-1 on my 2500D as the attenuator. I set the gain as I normally would on the amp and then plug in the remote which allows me to turn down the level of the bass as per the material. As a safety it will only go as high as the manual gain on the amp.
Problem was, the signal just wasn't strong enough below volume 30 to get the amp to do anything even with everything maxed.

t money - I know I have a weak signal. That's the point. That is what I am trying to get around. Yes the output is turned on. I'm not the only person with this problem. Read even just this thread and you'll find people who find these decks don't come alive until higher volumes.

I've installed a PG PLD-1 I had lying around on the sub out. I had it set at ~5v and it wasn't helping. Bumped it up to ~6v and the bass really started to come alive at a bit lower volume. A bit more tuning and I might be able to get it where I'm happy.
One thing about these amps is that they don't like too much input voltage so I'm treading softly. Hopefully I can get a bit more testing later today.

you don't need the mx feature if you have a quality system, that feature is just for lower volumes, plus the sq deminishes(sp) with mx on.Just make sure your gains are st correctly and you should be fine.I had the same issue until i redid my gains

you say the bass highpass is set to 30 hz, do you mean the low pass is set to 30hz, if so don't you think 30hz is too low

No I mean high pass. As in "high pass filter". As in "subsonic filter". As in "attenuation of frequencies below the tuning point of the box where the enclosure can no longer control the movement of the driver adequately filter".

And t money, again, the gains are set correctly.
I've had two good shops recheck everything and we all agree. The signal just doesn't come alive until it really gets up there. Mind you, when it's up there it's great. I just need a bit more bass down lower.

PLD-1 seems to have worked although I shouldn't have had to use it. These decks really are kinda finicky.
