Alpine NVE-M300nav with TME-M740BT screen?

Alpine NVE-M300nav with TME-M740BT screen?
Has anybody used or installed this combination of alpine products before? I already have the screen and don't want to trade "up" to the newer alpine screen with as smaller display and no BT. Possible other nav option would be alpine blackbird B200 or NVE-N872A, but the latter would cost prob $600 used and like $1500+ new. Not really what I'm Lookin to spend.
I saw a thread on another site that said a guy had done this and they were not 100% compatible, but no real description of difficulties. I could go join this Subaru legacy site and ask the guy, but thought I'd ask on here if any of us have done this before.
I'll talk to alpine rep on next day at work. But info would be useful if any ody knows. Thanks
