Alpine players - whats the difference between these two
#1
I want to know the difference between the CDA-9835 & CDA-9833 cd players.
They both look the same, except the 9835 has less amp power... but its more expensive.
Could someone explain these features:
MM Driver (Hard Disc Drive) Ready
MobileHub™ Ready
Versatile-Link™ Ready
Thanks

9835 has the Bio-Lite display. Here are the two: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...y=20&p_main=10

the power supply is the same in both units.
The CDA9835 has Front/Rear/Sub x-overs where the CDA9833 has Low/Mid/High x-overs.
The CDA9835 Bio-Lite display is easier to adjust settings with, gives you a personalized greeting on startup, displays holidays (calendar, birthday etc...)
The quick search option for MP3 or anything with text has a prior-current-next track (basically 3 line display) and the CDA9833 only has current and next (2 line display).
Dot matrix display on CDA9833 (has some contrast issues day-to-night).
I upgraded from the CDA9833 to the CDA9835 and never regretted it.
Defro expressed his opinion to me that the CDA9833 sounds better but thats one of the only things I think I will disagree with him on.
I find my 9835 sounds better than my 9833 and I think it's because of the x-overs. I can stage my sound front, rear and sub instead of just the high, mid and lows of all speakers at once. It may just be my set up though. I run titanium laminate tweets in my front coaxials and soft dome tweets in my rear coaxials and being able to adjust the x-overs front to back gives me the best of both worlds.
Thats my 2 cents. I would buy the CDA9835 if the shop you buy from will allow you to downgrade if you determine it's not worth the extra after a couple weeks.
