Thinking of putting 2x15" subs in my 2004 300M, which brand would you choose and why? I visited a very reputable Audio store in Scarborough and was told that I need 15" sub(s) in that car to get decent bass, and suggested the Kaptions instead of the Alpines. Any thoughts??Thanks in advance...v

Sorry, I forgot to mention...spl is important but not as important as clean, articulate bass. The subs will be powered by a Hifonics bx 1205 d( rated at 1200@1ohm...so let's say 450-500 per sub to avoid arguments as to actual power output). Again Thanks in advance...v

^^so the man said, and as far as I've read on here, he is very well respected. I not sure exactly how much less bass you get, he says that the transfer function with anything other than 15's or larger, delivers very little bass. I had 3-12" Infinity refs in my 2000 Intrepid and it was quite a bit of bass to me( had every boost feature all the way down on the amp and the deck), and the cars are essentially the same. Anyway, the kaptions are around 400.00 each and the Alpines I can get for well under 300.00 each.

My advice to you would be to go to an audio shop that sells used stuff, i know of on in mississasuga that will let u test it in youre car,
Pick out a couple 12s hook em up and see if hes right?
Who knows, he may just be correct about youre car.
I'm not saying the dude dont know his stuff but if it were me i would question it.
If you want the name of the shop i mentioned pm me.

Kaption

The Kaption SPL's are way better then the Alpine Type R's. I have had played with a pair of each brand but 12" subs not 15" subs and I liked the Kaptions way more. They sounded better and hit harder. I would go with the Kaptions.
