Ok well as you can see in my sig I have an Alpine 7897 and i was told that the remote model # was RUE-4168, but today my neighbor found out that he had 2 remotes for his 7892 so he gave me one of them to see if it would work. Well it did work, and it works GREAT, man i love that thing. But the model # is RUE-4187. so why does it work? was i mis-informed about the #? or does a wide range of remotes work with alpine HU?

thanks guys

I don't know if this helps, but my 7930 came with a small remote when I bought it in 1996. I later upgraded the remote to a much fancier one from Alpine which also controlled some other models. Perhaps all their remotes work on all the decks that have remote control capabability?
