Ok, I dunno where I had seen this but I remember a sub box
was lined with these bumpy material that was used to deflect
the soundwaves inside the box in random directions...

I found this piece (which measures 16" x 11.5" x 1.25") and
I wondered about putting it at the bottom (the back face)
inside the box.

It's basically a sponge like material. I work in a grocery store
(produce dept) and found this in one the product boxes
used to keep fruits from gettin crushed and sh*t.

My setup:
Alpine MRP-M350 mono amp
Alpine SWR-1041D 10" Type R (DVC)
Alpine CDA-9087 headunit
Box (WxHxD): ext. = 16" x 10.75" x 13", int = 14.5" x 10.75" x 11.5"
Box volume: 0.80ft^3 (recommended by mfg)

Here are the pics:

Pic of my box can be seen on my website (see sig for URL) in the pictures section...

lining the inside walls of your box with that stuff works wonders if it is dense enough foam.

I dunno how much you can tell from the pics but
the stuff is comparable to sponge...maybe a
little denser then sponge...

I'm gonna try putting it on Sat. (tomorrow).

BTW, Im only lining the back wall, not all the inside walls..

If I can find more of this material at work, I may try and putting in this sh*t on the other
walls, assuming it all sounds good

That stuff looks like egg-crate foam that is sold as a matress-topper in most department stores. I believe a piece that will cover a queen-size bed is around $50. It is nothing special, but would do the job nicely and would be easier to glue-staple to the box walls rather than trying to jam your box full of polyfill.

might work, might not. Use carefully and not get that stuff too close the the vent pole or you could overheat the VC....I'm not too sure how that stuff will work because of the hills and valleys it may cause cancellation, but then again, I haven't tried that material out...let us know how it turns out.

When I build home speakers I usually use a denser version of what you have there. It works great for dampening internal reflections...not directly a substitute for polyfill tho, as it acts differently. Polyfill slows down the rear wave, hence making the box "appear" larger.
