alternator

Hey everyone
I haven't put my system in yet, but when i do i'm fairly sure im gonna need a new battery from stock on my 1962 plymouth, however, i think it has a generator rather than an alternator, even though it was an option. Should i switch that bad boy out?
Thx much,
stuggin

Alternators are much more eficient than a generator.
Generators usually have very low output@ idle, and can barely keep up with headlight and heater current requirment.
a single wire alt(self exciting regulator)will install easily without cutting any original wires.

Pull it!! The Mini had the original alt in it I think 31 amp and After I relaced it like with over 180 like WOW. I had a very hard time keeping up to the cars basic requrements never mind keeping up with the audio. Keep it simple and do upgraid. And yes get the best you can aford and get. The batt and alt wiring ect.
