just get a rebuilt alt from an auto electric shop. Should be able to find a bigger one...

only way to make sure its 'big' enough is to hook it up,hook up a voltmeter, run all your accessories (lights, heat, etc) and your stereo, and see what the draw is on the alt...

I'd try to go bigger than 110 amp, most cars with AC and power options have close to that, stock, I think.

stock must be more....
stock on my 76 impala with a/c was 60...
replaced it with 180amps....world of difference..

rebuilt is the way to go, brand new high-output alts are very expensive

I'd probably do over 150 amps....180 is a solid choice usually

A 40 amp alternator is very weak. I wouldn't suggest running any type of 'amplified' system on it.

110 amp upgrade for $115 seems like a great deal. Unless you are planning on running a very high drain amplifier, I wouldn't worry about it being insufficient. Considering what is written in your sig, it will be plenty

Good luck with whatever you decide!
