Hi, my first post on this forum.

I stopped into AB sound the other day, and got a quote for:

JL 250/1 amp (about 549)
JL W3v2 12" sub (about 349)
rca cables (by the looks of them.. they're good... 50 bucks )
power kit (90 bucks)
installation (100)
box (200 i think..)

He didn't give me the quote paper but a reference number so the prices listed above are coming from my head.

The quote including taxes is about 1469 dollars.

What I want to know is: Is this a good price? Is it within a range that could be considered a good price???

I never imagined it would have cost so much to get a subwoofer into a car!

The car in qeustion is a 2000 grand cherokee w/ the infinity sound system. I know next to nothing about the car audio scene (but I am electronically, and mechanically minded).

Thanks for any input.

I should also mention..

I do realize that these components are on the mid/higher end, and that, that is one of the reasons for the high cost. I told the sales person that I was looking for good, clean sound.

Just wanted to know if there are other places I can get these components for less money!

Thanks.

as far as that price on the amp goes I would buy a used amp off the internet instead of a new one cause you will save money and get a way more powerful amp (you can get 1000watt amps for that price easily off the net) Also that doesn't seem to be a great price on that woofer and also most power kits come with RCAs so they would be charging you twice for RCAs that as previously mentioned you wouldn't even need if you are keeping a stock deck.
also, just an opinion here but a new deck is the first thing I suggest people buy, stock decks don't come lose to aftermarket as far as features go. Also, if you boiught all of your stuff over the net (and built a box yourself) and learned to install it yourself you could get all that stuff, plus a deck and spend alot less money then they want and probobly end up with the same or better gear

They can go a lot lower on all of those things ...

I can get a 10W3v2 for $215 from A&B Sound ... The 12" is significantly more, though, at $270 ...

I say best bang for the buck would be to try and find a JPL BP600.1 or 1200.1

They go used for barely nothing and are good cheep power.

For subs, maybe look for a paire of phoenix gold tantrum 12's...the older models, they were in production for maybe a year, so dealers are probably wanting to get rid of them to make place for the newer ones.

Just some examples of what you could look for.
