amp keeps shutting off

first my set up is a 1800 watt power acoustik amp pushing 2 mtx 10's. and i also have a stinger cap hooked up.

The problem i keep having is the amp runs great for like half an hour and then it goes in to protect mode. then if i shut off the car and just start it up again it works fine for another 20 to 30 min.

I was thinkin maybe its just running to hot maybe where i mounted it?(its on top off the box)

im just kinda lost with what i should do maybe try mounting the amp in a different spot? or add some cooling fans from like a computer or something.

but the thing is i dunno if it is heat related at all cause i have just shut it off at like a stop light after the amp cut out and once i start it back up it all works fine for another 20-30 mins

please help! im new to the whole car audio scene but i am tryin to learn i did the whole install myself and the wiring is clean but maybe i screwed up something that is real simple!

Any help is much appreciated!!!!!!

what vc config are your subs? maybe you have them wired at too low an ohm load for the amp?

what is your gain setting at? maybe too high?

overheating is a likely not, how can you turn the car off, then right back it on and its cooled down already?
like kenswick said, make sure your not overloading the amp.

how is your battery? I'm not familiar with your amp, but maybe your voltage drops below par and puts the amp into protect
