Amp power?
#1
I have 2 10" 4 OHMS Type R's in a sealed box, now the guy that made the box said that the amp I have (Sony XM - 1502SX, stats below) would not have enough power but it seems to pound pretty good. Do I need a different amp and if so what kind in a $0.00 - $500.00 budget.
Channel Configuration: 2/1
High Pass Filter: 50-300
Low Pass Filter (LPF): 50-300
DIN 45500
(4 ohm): 2 x 160 W
(4 ohm): 1 x 400 W
(2 ohm): 2 x 200 W
Rated Output Power/THD
(4 ohm): 2 x 150 W/ 0.04%
(4 ohm): 1 x 380 W/ 0.1%
(2 ohm): 2 x 190 W/ 0.1%
Max Output Power (14.4 V)
(4 ohm): 2 x 300 W
(4 ohm): 1 x 760 W
(2 ohm): 2 x 380 W
Frequency Response range 5-50000 Hz
Tolerance +0/-3 dB
Signal to Noise Ratio >100 dB
Total Harmonic Distortion (1 KHz) is 0.005%
4 rail power supply
Number of input channels : 2
Balanced Input Circuit
Speaker level input
Line out
MOSFET Output Stage and Power Supply
Bass boost: 7-40 Hz, 0-10 dB
Torodial transformer
Input sensitivity 0.2-6 V
Gold plated connectors

Maybe not enough to power them to their full capability, but it's enough power to make them play, now isn't it ?
You don't really need a new amp, but if you want a new amp, any reliable amplifier that puts out 600-800 RMS @ whatever the final ohm load of your Type-Rs is would be the best choice ...
