Check your woofer and make sure the Coil is ok.

if the amp works fine in your friends car it is most likely your woofer.

After you have checked most posibilities then try a new RCA.

It could be a loose wire somewhere between the amp and the sub... alternativly, (and I've seen this happen alot) is that the tinsel leads for the woofer (behind the cone) are making contact causing a dead short and making the amp cut out....

If you can make them touch yourself by moving them together, try coating them with a little liquid electrical tape (available at canadian tire)...

If it isn't the wiring or leads, you could have a short inside the woofer... if ur lucky it will just be under the dustcap where the tinsel leads connect to the coil.... this can usualy be repaired without reconning the woofer....

Edit: consider all that after you have tripple checked all wiring, and tried new RCA's from a different source like a diskman or something....

Again...check if the amp is going into protection... and are you powering anything else up with the "turn-on"lead...(ie:multiple amps, proccesors((SP?), caps?...What's the voltage @ the 12V+ and remote inputs at the amp?...If both your amp and sub are fine on your buddy's system then look at wiring...And sorry... a place might be Kennedy Hifi to check it out... Ray can send you to the right people...

^^^^^ what he said....

How do you know it's not the woofer ??? did you mean to say that you tested your sub on your buddies amp... along with your amp on his subs ???

If that's the case and both the sub and amp work somewhere else... then you obviously have a wiring problem.... next step is to eliminate your HU and RCA's as the problem...

Check the RCA's at the deck end. If you know your sub to be good, and the amp to work in a friends car, it's got to be inbetweren your deck and amp. Also check that remote turn on lead. It could either be a bad conenction, or poorly insulated connection that is making contact with a metal piece behind the dash, shorting it out.
