Just outta curiosity is it a bad thing to have my bass boost at +12dB and my gain all the way up?? I have the bass & treble on the deck set at 0. But Im still a little worried bout blowin somethin cuz I dunno much bout this shiz. If not anyone got any suggestions I still want it loud but dont wanna blow it either.

Yeah, turn down both the gain and boost. I learned the hard way. I was seriously under powering my sub so I had the gain at 3/4 and the boost all the way up, it blew my sub. What gain does is controls when your amp will reach full power. If your gains all the way up, then it'll reach full power at lower volumes, then when you keep turning the volume up, your sub will start to get clipped power. you wont hear it but it mechanically hurts your subs. Turn your gain all the way off, then turn your deck up to where you like it for everyday listening, then adjust the gain to where the bass sounds good at that level. Maxing the gain wont give your subs any more power at high volumes. Hope this helps you out a bit.

generally gains are pretty tough to set for subs...or so i think cause it's tough to pick out distortion, but to add more in case it helps here's how i see it.
Basically your head unit will generall put out 2 or 4 volts through their rca's (generally). Amplifiers are made to accomodate all sorts of different voltages....for high voltage preouts, you don't need to turn the gain up as much. For low voltage head preouts, the gain will need to be a lil higher. In the end, you want to match the gain on your amp to your head unit.
At some point....your amp will match the signal to your head unit...and be putting out it's maximum power. This is where you want to be. You'll probably still be able to turn the gain up louder, and it might even seem like it is louder, but what you'll be getting and should be hearing is distortion. Past that matching point of gain, the amp will not put out clean power...rendering it useless to set it any higher. As well sending this unclear power to the sub is bad for the sub.
For setting gains on the subs, i've always been told....turn most settings to zero....and unplug all other rca's from amps, so that you have the subs only going. Turn your HU up to about 3/4th max volume (depending on how good your HU is and where it'll start to distort on it's own) and play a song you know well...then slowly turn the gain up on your amp untill you notice it to become a lil unclear/distorted. Turn the gain down a tad. And voila your at max volume.
(if you're putting 800w to your subs and your amp is right beside your subs....have fun....i have yet to set my gain properly for this perticular reason lol)
Generally turning up the Bass Boost will boost the bass in a given range of frequencies (which may be specified in your user manual, but not always - that confuses me kinda). As i've found...for the most part with a ported box, you don't play with this cause these frequencies are already boosted thanks to your ported box. Sealed can be a lil different story.
And there's my take on it...sorry if i jumped around or was really confusing heh.

Hey man, glad to here it worked out for ya. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Don't be afraid to try different settings though, experiment to find what works best for you, just watch the gain, good luck
