I guess we're not trying to find out how your Hifonics amp died - with the info on the subs, which by the way still isn't clear (S4 or D4), we can recommend you another amp in case you're ready to buy one now. It'd be nice to know your alternator rating in consideration for that 1400-1500w rms benchmark you're shooting for, the details on the enclosure would also give us hints on the kind of response these subs are set for.

-What's the net volume for each Pioneer sub? Sealed? If ported, what's the tuning freq & port dimensions?
-www.carsdirect.com says your alt is rated @ 140 amp; more than enough.
-Budget is 300$ price tag, or w/ taxes & shipping costs?
-Any upgrade to your 'big 3' wires? (alt--batt, batt--ground, alt--chassis/ground) 4 ga would be a wise pick here.

Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Four 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers
1 ohm.

TRX-1500D - Soundstream 1500 Watt Monoblock Class D Amplifier
X600.1 - Phoenix Gold Xenon 600 Watt Mono Amplifier (X 2)

...that is, if you're willing to order from the States. You'll never get a true 1500w rms amp for 250$ from either a shop, retail store or independent rep. Unless someone on here can vouch for the contrary.

Relatively cheap built amps, both companies are owned by Maxxsonics I believe. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't trust them on the long run.

No. Crutchfield.ca's prices are terrible. A couple vendors on forums like here (and again, Audiodauto.com for you in Québec) have decent prices though.
