I would probably stick with the Earthquake, not sure if that Audiobahn will make the power it is rated for. Can't find a whole lot of info on the Earthquake amp, though.

If the Earthquake made that much power off 12.5 volts then there is a good chance it puts out more power then the A-blahn...

See if you can find out how they rate power.. (probably at 14v or more if you ask me, and it is probably on a dynamic)

Also note that IF the Alahn did make 800wrms and the earthquake only made 700, that is less then 2/3 of a db.... not going to be audible...

Is the bling worth the $20 and possibly less power ????

oh okay thanks guys.

in any case, i bought my amp for 150 and am able to sell it for 220 which i really want to do.

i want to know what is a good amp i can purchase for around that price which will be better suited to my sub? Its a dual 2 that takes 1000rms so i gotta get the power at 1 or 4 ohms.

im thinking hifonics brutus bx 1000d, but i heard it will only give me about 800 watss rms in reality.

OK first of all the earthquake is more powerful then the audiobahn. (Audiobahns power is rated at 14.4v and the Earthquake is rated at 12.5V) Stay with that. The Hifonics will do a full 1000wrms @ 1 ohm but yes in 2 ohm your talking 800. Because if your trying to find a 1000wrms amp for about $220-240cdn you are going to be hard pressed to find one. And if you get one from ebay you run the risk of it being used or refurbished or no warranty. Rule of thumb for a half descent amp will run you .50 per watt and a good amp amp about .75-$1 per watt. I would definatly stick with what you have. Also your talking US money because that link has the audiobahn for $299us plus shipping to canada, plus duties and brokerage, plus taxes. Save up $500cdn then when you have that sell your earthquake for $200-250 then buy yourself a nice 2 channel (Most 2 channels will produce full power at 2ohms and monos do it at 1 ohm most of the time) and in the long run you will be happier. Also to roughly calculate real power try this. The Audiobahn has 2 30amp fuses and it claims to put out full power at 14.4v. Now class a/b amps are anywhere between 50-75% efficent. (Depending on the quality of manufacturer) And Class D amps are 80-95% efficent. The calculation is Volts x Amps X Efficency=RMS Power. Not all manufacturers tell you what the efficency is so lets assume its the best case sanario at 75%. 14.4V X 60Amps X.75=648Wrms. Alot of companies just multiply Volts by Amps and call it the RMS Rating. Now this is just a rule of thumb. To know the exact figure you need to know the efficency. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers
