I need some help with my ALT, i bought a new one from crappy tire last week, put it on, it died, went and got another(warranty) and i cant get the belt back on!! its a 94 pontiac grand prix SE, anyone know if theres any special way to get this thing put on? i dont know how i did it the first time, and its NOT going on again, anyone done one before that can help me out? i can get the belt on, but the bolts wont be aligned, i can get the bolts alightned....but then i cant get the belt on! so some help would be appreciated, i kinda need my car, and i dont want to pay 80$ for some kid at CT to do it

ok first thing anything change with the new alternator? pully being bigger?? then i look for is atleast on fords but not sure on gm a tensioner. just put a socket and like push it and then put the belt on. their should be instructions on the front near the rad. atleast if its a new vehicle and has not been repaired that is.

there should be a picture under the hood for the belt routing

its`ll be either black with a white diagram on it or while with a black diagram

take a look ...

generally flat pullies ride on the back/flat part of the belt and grooved pullies/grooved side of belt.
