any suggestions?

hi all,

I will be adding subs to my car this summer, and wanted suggestions into good brands and products to consider....

I listen to 50% punk, 25% rock, 25% rap (in that order)
I also have a buick century (large car, with lots of trunk space)

I have a panosonic deck with two pre outs

i need an amp, subs and enclosure

open to suggestions for amps (mono i think i need), subs/boxes (i was thinking one good 12" or two 10"s)

let me know what you think... i am on a budget of around $650.00 canadian dollars but that could go up or down if need be....

let me know what has given you good experiences, thanks for your help...

Personally, I'd go with a pair of 10's or 12's mated to an amp with good clean power. I've had Alpine stuff in previous cars with good results. For my current car I'm planning on using Audiopipe based on price/performance.
Brand? There's so many quality products out now. Buy from a shop you trust.

I use a single 12" type-r and love it. I think youd be more then happy with a single 12" type-r for your music selections.

personally I agree with the first mention! go wit a shop you know and trust! and as for sound, in a bigger car like a century and I imagine the rear seats dont fold down so get something nice and clean! Loud helps too.lol. A nice set of Alpine Type R's in a slot ported box would be great! pair of 12" perfect for what you want I am thinking! and as for amps, well to many brands to think about

I miss the feel of TWO, I have 1 type X right now, and it hits hard, but I know for a fact my type R's would murder these:!!!! but now Im going to be running 3 10" next and hopefully around 1000 watts to them

I've got two 12" type r's with 1200 watts going to them in a small sealed box(Alpine spec), and it's too much. It's tight, clean and fuggin' loud. All the gains are at 1/3 and no boost at all. The sub level control is at 0, and my processor (pxa-h701) is set at -12 on the sub output( it mutes it completely at -13). Honestly, 2 x 12's with 500 watts will give you more than enough bass to satisfy all but the noisiest of car audio junkies. It's easily as loud as my previous 3x12's infinity 1230w subs in a big ***(4.5 cube) ported box, with 900 watts. SQ is about the same, those Infinity's are very nice sounding subs, so you might want to consider those if your budget won't allow for more.
