Anyone ever dealt with this site online?

Hi,

I'm not advertising, I'm just curious if anyone here has dealt with these guys before. Their prices seem really tempting in a few places and I wonder if they are legit.

www.dealercostcaraudio.com

Anyone know another places that has good prices like this or better? I'm interested in their Boston Acoustics stuff and sound deadening materials and their shipping to canada is like $40 and free in the states.

Thanks!

I love their warranty solutions.....it totally absolves them of providing any warranty service. In Canada or the US, the manufacturer is the only person who can warranty the product. So if they are not authorized to sell the equipment (which these guys are not), the manufacturer does not cover it for warranty. Solution, they warranty it....or do they....read along on their warranty claims...it must be installed at a authorized retailer....this way that retailer must honor the factory warranty....ummm, no. Read along......install it yourself and you are not a professional, pretty much says, no warranty. What a total farce if you ask me. Shipping to Canada will be much more than $40.00 as they do not tell you about the brokerage fees, importation fees, conversion of the sale and all the crap to canadian funds (add 22% or so there) and the tax you pay when it comes into your province. Here Canada is in a full recession, we need your business. Why not ask the Canadian dealers on the site for their input first?

Taken from their site.

"1. Our philosophy when starting the online sales was to give wholesale pricing direct to the knowledgeable do-it-yourselfer who would not need any advise from any third parties or dealers etc. In the event you are not a qualified installer we recommend you have all your items professionally installed by a reputable installation technician. In the past we have had problems with authorized dealers sabotaging product. If your product has been installed by an authorized dealer and is defective within 30 days of the installation we can only repair the item or reimburse you for the freight costs of the repair through the dealer/installer which may be a quicker resolution to the problem if the dealer agrees to do so for you. We will not refund or credit sales of the above mentioned. We will not credit, refund, or replace items that may have been intentionally damaged by a third party or dealer except those which are proven to be a manufacturers defect. - Refer to line paragraph 2 below for more details. YES THIS CAN HAPPEN - BE AN AWARE CONSUMER!

2. It has come to our attention that certain dealers are intentionally damaging items sold by us as well as other discount online stores. This is a way to try and stop us from selling at super discount prices. They are trying to avoid competition in their field. We ask customers that cannot complete the installation themselves and are in need of a dealer/installer to install their items to make sure the dealer will warranty the installation and in turn the items being installed and send them in to the manufacturer for repair if there is in deed a problem. If they are not willing to do so please do not have them install the items. We know there are good dealers out there that would be willing to stand behind their work. There will be no excuses to these terms as this has now become an inevitable problem even if the dealer is your lifelong buddy ask anyway. We sell items in perfect condition brand new only to be returned completely sabotaged. We will no longer accept these kinds of items this should be handled at the shop where the damage took place. People tend to not believe us when we let them know of this problem especially if they know the dealer. Believe us competition has brought the prices of these items down sometimes cutting them in half compared to what they used to sell the same items for in years past. This cuts profits and no matter how nice you are this hurts, but it is a way of life - that is what America is about. We have done the numbers and percentages and found the number of items returned damaged (so called defective) is nearly triple than that of the average customer who does the install themselves. The numbers just don't add up therefore we are being extremely strict and enforcing this as best as possible."

What a total crock show.....

Hehe, that's why I came straight here when I found that site.

A) Yes recession... trying to save money. Either Ebay or UsedEverywhere.com for good used deals?

B) I've been to a few places in town now (Victoria BC) and I either get the "Oh you missed the exit when you came in... turn around and you will find it" routine Or they give you the $10,000 price tag as the selling point.
(NOTE: Raphs and FutureShop were awesome and the only two that took me seriously when I walked in so far.)

C) If there's a Good Canadian site with good prices, I'm all over it. There's a bunch of stuff I need to buy these days as I'm building up two B2200's and upgrading my cars audio again.

D) As for the warranty... For $500 Boston Z series a dead bottom price... as long as a place is willing to replace an item that arrives deffective, then cool. As for the installation warranty.. well I'm installing this stuff myself as it's part of my car audio hobbie. All Pro's start somewhere right? If I destroy the speaker, I wouldn't expect anyone to pay for it but me. I'm one of the few hundred left that actually takes responsibility for my own actions.

Maybe I'll post a list of the stuff I'm looking for and see what sites/stores you guys can suggest?

Going to check out the "sponsor" sites now.

Dude, add me to msn and we need to talk. I prefer to talk to each person instead of just relying on a site to hope to do the job right.

Let me know where you end up buying your equipment. I live in the same area and I'm also getting retarded prices.

Once I get a little more familiar with this forum I'll post a worklog for my 3 main projects.
'88 323 GT
'90 B2200 Short cab
'90 b2200 with walkthrough

Installation Item List for all three projects
- 2x 10" Rockford Fosgate Pro Punch (check)
- 3x 10" Bostons (older) (check)
- 4x g512 (maybe 2 12s and 2 10s) (some)
- 8x 6.5 Boston Acoustics Pro Series (some)
- 4x 5.5 Boston Pros (some)
- 2x 5x7 Bostons (check)
- 4x s45 Bostons or older 2 piece 4inch if I can find them (some)
- 6x Boston tweeters (some)
- 2x Din slot center channel
- Alpine DVD (check)
- Koss mp3/cd (check)
- Eclipse DVD (check)
- 4x Alpine v12 (check)
- 1x Alpine v12 Digital (check)
- 1x Alternate amp
- 3x 7" Custom made screens (some)
- 3x Short screens or a 9x3 screen (looking)
- CarPC (Built not bought)
- Inverter(s) for game system(s)
- 4x Yellow Top Optimas

So with a list like this I'm sure you can see why I'm looking for a lower pricetag

Little Story...
Ever gone to the place in colwood near the burger king? They have Hertz or Hurtz speakers. They say hand made italian and if you ask about them, they don't tell you about their sound quality or volume... They say.. "And this one is the low end model for $1000 a set and you can get 2 levels above this for near $15,000 a set" I had a CD played on them and my low end s45 bostons out perform them so much that even someone with horrible ears can tell the difference. Of course I'm talking Mids here. I don't know about subs because I wasn't interested in them.

** EDIT Update **
I went to Ralphs and looks like I can get 6.5Pros for a really good deal. Not $299 great... but better than $700. Still going to keep looking..

Question: Anyone know anything about Elevated Audio?
