Just buy from a place that ships via USPS and you'll be able to figure it out easily enough.

 

I had a pretty poor experience with Etronics. I like that there are no hidden costs at all, but their customer service, especially their ability to deal with Canadian customer requests, is horrible. In short, on one occasion I was called a liar and an idiot by one of their customer service staff, and on another occasion I received an error before the final step of the order (and received no confirmation e-mail) and was told because it was a canadian order, they wouldn't be able to tell me for over 2 weeks whether the order went through or not.

On the other hand, I've had very positive experiences with thezeb.com and SoundDomain, both authorized Internet sellers (although be careful on brands, as some will not warranty out of country, you'll have to ship them back to thezeb or SoundDomain to get them to do it). If the item in question is made in North America, you won't have to worry about duty, as you will be under NAFTA. You will still get hit with tax, but avoid the duty. And, as already mentioned, if you are able to find a seller shipping with USPS instead of UPS, any duty and/or brokerage charges will be relatively trivial.

im probably not gonna order online...im just gonnalook around stores or try to look for ppl that can give me a deal
