How is it one of the worst statements you have ever heard?

The salesman is stating an opinion, and it is an opinion that agrees with several online reviews.

Google "TS-C720PRS review" and you'll find a review by Car Audio and Electronics Magazine which explores these speakers in detail.

I own a set and I'm just starting to tune them, but so far they sound pretty good. I'm particularly impressed with the midbass performance.

Thats the problem with buying high end audio stuff. Most places can get it, but never carry stock because it usually doesn't move.

JohnVroom, I hope you don't go looking to audition Seas Lotus components or Hiquphon tweeters, or for that matter Canadian based AVI speakers.
No one carries them, and if they do, they usually aren't willing to crack open a box just to demo them for a dude who is probably going to walk out and do his research online.

As stated opinions are developed through experience, and knowledge, in this case he has neither with that product.... I have been in sales and I REALLY hate the "I will say anything to make you want to buy something right now" it is in complete contrast to the "I want to sell you the product that will best meet your needs in your price range".

Anywho I also am curious over the hype, and I might buy a set just to see if there were any Premier retailers around here. Pioneer certainly has the know-how to make a top tier driver set

Ah, basing a judgement off an assumption that the guy had never heard them. Fair enough.

As far as the hype... I bought a set of the 5.25" PRS comps and installed them in some cherry wood bookshelf cabinets I happened to have laying around.

They're nice. I'm no reviewer, so I am not going to judge them critically, but I very much enjoyed them.

I was feeding them 40-60 watts, just enjoying them when my friend came over. He listened for about 10 minutes and asked what speakers they were, then asked to buy them.

Now I'm looking for a set of the 720PRS to but in some other cabinets I have...
