I'm looking into replacing my dbdrive 2 channel amp (A275) with a clarion 4 channel amp (APA4204). The amp will be used to power my factory component speakers.

I'm just looking for positive or negative feedback on Clarion amps. I know there are countless discusions on makes and models of manufacturers but I'd just like to be reassured that this amp will give out clean power and will have a long life if I treat it well and don't abuse it.

Thanks for your input.

I sell a million of 'em. People come in with "I heard that Clarion sucks" type of attitude but they end up walking out with some pretty serious bang for the buck. Honestly, where else can you get a 1000 watt 'D' amp for about $500 brand new at a store? Uh, pretty hard to beat that. PLUS, they actually perform ! For the price, their power and clarity is awesome.

Yay Clarion !!!!

The Older apx line from Clarion is strikingly similar to the cxl line from arc. especially the 1500dr. UBUY also is affiliated with arc.. Thus the apx and cxl lines are pretty much the same stuff. however the arcs employ a lil more "expensive" production methods. Dave i wouldnt be surprised by your reaction to the apx 400.4, i played with one and it sounded strikingly similar to my older arc 2050's lols.

But they are solid amps.. man i remember when they were discontinuing the apx line you couldve gotten the 1500dr for 199 us brand new....

not a bad bet.. i actually know of a few people who have competed with the apx's that just ran them to see how they would compare to the cxl's they had before and surprisingly they did very well.
