Clarion's amplifiers may advertise max ratings, but their amplifiers still produce what they say they produce ... Clarion advertises max power output at 4 ohms stereo (i.e. APX201.2 = 2x50 RMS, 2x100 Max @ 4 ohms stereo or 100 RMS/200 Max)

APX201.2 - 230 RMS @ 4 ohms mono
APX401.2 - 380 RMS @ 4 ohms mono
APX1001.2 - 1000 RMS @ 2 ohms mono

As for their subs and speakers, divide the max rating by two, there's your RMS rating ...

Well, I take it as a given that head units ALWAYS use max ratings. It's sneaky, and it always fools the newbie who thinks their speaker are really getting 50 watts each. But as for amps and subs, I just think it's deliberately misleading the consumers to make better sales.

For instance, why did Rockford Fosgate suddenly resort to max ratings? To compete with Sony and Kenwood for newbie sales, of course.

And why doesn't Adire or Elemental Designs use max ratings? Because they know that Internet people are too knowledgable to fall for that crap. Just my opinion...
