Apple ipad for auto use

The iPad has a ton of very useful applications around the house and on the go, but for car audio I dont think it is there yet.
For home automation though, this thing will be amazing in 6 months time running Xpanel from Crestron.
Why spend $4000+ on a crestron touchpanel or $2000 for a control4 remote when you can use this in conjunction with the many already available remote platforms available for the iphone. After some tweaking at $499 for a base model this thing is a steal for many uses.
To say the iPad is useless or junk just means you dont understand or care to understand the many applications it can and will be used for. In 2 years time after a few generations things like this will be common place.

The larger screen real estate and multi touch screen take this away from being an ipod touch.
The ipod touch remote apps are hindered by the size of screen to work with and make it too impractical to use everyday.
It's E-book capabilities become more interesting as people wont mind reading with a larger font and the ability to display a full page at once without having to zoom in.
It's internet uses become much more practical with the multi touch screen and typing intensive work or presentations.
It becomes a portable movie player for your kids in there room, a cook book for your wife in the kitchen, A digital photo frame for the livingroom when not in use, An automation device for your entire house, practical Internet on the go, the morning news paper for dad, Video games for the family with the new chip, a cheaper alternative to whole home audio and video distribution and so on... really the possibilities are endless. All these things on top of what the ipod touch/iphone already did.
The iphone and ipod touch were amazing devices that revolutionized many aspects of there fields, this is just the next logical step.
