There is no optical out (or digital out for all i know) on the p01/p99. So, if i'm going with an external processor like the PS8 i'm ditching the p01 altogether and i'm going the carputer route using optical or coaxial SPDIF. Also size will be a major factor for me, if it's going to be huge like an MS-8 forget it... One feature id like to see on the PS8 is RJ-45 balanced out, this way i could use the balance in on my amps. I'm a IT guy so always wanted to use those RJ-45 plugs, i think they are cool lol!!! But realistically the Carputer/PS8 will be sitting on my bench for a while to make sure it is working flawlessly, when i drive i want to listen to music (no other time to do it) so it better work perfectly. Mind you ill do this just for fun since the p01 is all i need really for SQ, with this much processing if you can't get good sound it's either you can't tune or your install(mainly speakers) is wrong.

 

I think the carputer route is definitely the wave of the future. The threads out there are amazing and I think that we will see many more cars next season with some form of in-car pc/mac.

yep the carputer/arc audio8 is the way to go.. hey if anyone gets a chance to go and sit in a 2010/2011 exxus from hyundai do it with a sq c.d. and listen.. this car has, by far the best sq system i have ever heard from any manufacture. if it had decent bass and more spl it would easily win at worlds, yep its that good!!! hey lunchbox. thanks for the comments on the stickie..
