50 oz. Strontium Magnet
2” 4-Layer Voice Coil
Bumped Back Plate
Extended & Vented Pole Piece
Gold Binding Post Terminals
Power Handling: 800 Watts RMS
Sensitivity: 103dB
Frequency Response: 28Hz-150Hz
Impedance: 4 Ohm Stereo

My little brother just bought these subs
(Audiobahn ABP 122N 12" subs) for his vehicle. They are the ones that come in the neon lit box and what not. He bought an A4002V amp and when it is set to a 4 ohm stereo it says it is only giving 100 X 2? Does that mean each sub is only getting 200 watts power? Wouldn't that make these subs Under powered if they are 800W RMS? Also, i heard them for the first time today and while they do not sound bad it is more of background rumbling kind of bass than hard hitting, heart stopping bass. Could that be because of amp not being right for these subs or are the subs just junk in general? A buddy of mine has the 10" version of the Audiobahn APB 122N and his sounded pretty good. Not sure what amp he is running though.

I still get confused when it comes to the "physics" part of subs and amps and audio in general. I personally think he got a little screwed over on his system. He paid $900 CDN for the amp, subs, box,(the box and subs are together anyways) installation and wiring.

If something is kind of confusing let me know and i will do my best to try and clear it up.

Thanks for any help.

Those subs are rated at 400rms each. in reality they are more like 300rms.
the 800rms is combined. you amy want to step up to a better amp to power them. they are not junk, but not very good either. imo he wasted all his money. should have just got the subs. those bandpass boxes are usually junk. i say sell the box to someone, build a ported box, and amp them up better. should be loud at least. will most likely sound like *** though as most audiobahn subs do.

Thanks for your reply. He has some money back garuntee or something on them, some "promotion" from the local store. They do not sound bad, but not that kind of hard hitting bass that subs should have. I think he will stick with the subs as he likes the flashy neon glow But i will tell him to maybe consider looking for a new amp. Basically he should get a 1200 watt amp or so that can run at 4 ohms?
Thanks again for your post.
