MTX System setup questions....
#1
Hey. Here is the gear I have: Alpine 7840 deck (dual preouts).
7 volt line driver.
Mtx Thunder 302 two channel http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/thunder302.cfm
Mtx Thunder 4250D mono amp
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/thunder4250d.cfm
Infinity 6000cs components.
Single Infinity Beta Eight DVC (dual 4 ohm sub)
Here are my questions. The deck has no sub control, so I thought about running the front preout through the line driver, then into the 302. It has a selectable RCA Output crossover HP/FR/LP. Not sure what the LP frequency it sends out is, but I though of using this output from the 302 and running it into the 4250D, to make use of the higher output of the line driver. Then I can run the EBC remote sub level control to the 4250D. Would doing it this way make sense, and would the crossover slopes add up, between the 302's output and the one built into the 4250D? Or should I run the line driver to the sub amp only, and run the component amp off of it's own set of RCA's? Also, do the EBC's from the older MTX amps work on all amps that have the EBC port? Thanks, and sorry for the lengthy post....

My suggestion would be to Y-Adapt (with a 7 volt line driver this shouldn't be an issue) the output of the line driver into each amp.
And to answer the EBC question, all EBC controls are the same (as long as they are all the phone jack style end).

Yes it will lower the voltage that you will get to the amplifiers, but...
I was looking at it as there is a greater chance of inducing more noise into the signal by going through more electronics (the first amplifier and why people are against EQs) as well as the signal being delayed and possibly causing some minor phasing issues seeing how the first amp will get the signal before the second.

One thing I am not sure about, is if the RCA outputs pm the 4250D are Low Pass only. http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/thunder4250d.cfm
Looks like they might be, although the owner's manual does not mention it at all. I need a full range signal to go to the other amp for my components.....
