Avic-9 upgrade discs
This question is going out to Pioneerguy as he seems to have knowledge of the AVIC family: I have the AVIC-9 with it's original CNDV-20 disc. I have gone online(ebay) and purchased the CNDV-40M east and west discs. I assume now that to upgrade to use those maps I will be needing the CNDV-21 correct? This will also allow me to use my 6500 with it's touch screen ability, right? Furthermore, what's the difference between the 40M and the 40MT? Please enlighten me!! Thanks.
Good questions.
Let's start with what I DO know. The CNDV-40M is the specific part number for AVIC-N1 replacement software. I'm not sure how this may/may not work with your AVIC-9DVD.
The CNDV-40MT is the set to upgrade the various navigation systems (including the AVIC-9DVD) from the original software they came with.
Also, once you upgrade the AVIC-9DVD to touch panel operation (by using either the CNDV-21 or CNDV-40MT) you CANNOT go back to using it with the CNDV-20 & non-touch panel operation.
Since you've already purchased the CNDV-40M set from eBay, I hope it works for you & I'd be interested to know.
Good luck!

Okay, I put my CNDV-40M in this morning and got nowhere! I guess I will have to put these up for sale and find me the CNDV-40MT to upgrade with. Unless there is a some magic technique for upgrading that you know of Pioneerguy?
