bass cutout????? Help!!!
Hey there i'm still pretty new with all car audio but I knwo the basics. This one is really stumping me. I have a kenwood 1000W amp that I haev hooked up to two 12" subs. Now when ever I turn the volume up to a decent level most of the time the bass stops all the highs are still going but they sound like crap until I turn the volume down and the bass kicks in again. The amp its self doesnt shutoff or anything its just the bass compleatly stops. I was told by a friend that it is most likley my deck thats causing this because its not really the best deck in the world thats for sure. Could this be it or is there somthing else that would cause this?
What is the model # of the amp and subs? Is the amp bridged to the subs? Have you tried using a multimeter to see if the amp load is too low, such as 1 ohm mono? When the bass cuts out, does the light on the amp go off? Have you checked the ground for the amp to see if it is solid, and does the remote turn on for the amp come loose maybe?

The subs are two pioneer TS-W305C subs and the amp is a KAC 8101D... The light on the amp doesnt go out when the bass stops and I have checked the ground and its fine. The remote turn on is firmly in place so I still dont know why its keeps on cutting out? Its kinda weird though because when the car is running and actually moving it seems to play everything at a high level of volume but when I come to a stop thats when it seems to cut out! Could it have anything to do with the gauge of power wire that I am using? Right now I am using 8 gauge but I am getting some 4 gauge put in right away. Would that fix the problem?
yes 4 guage will make it better but, I would recommand getting a high performance battery, or a cap or even both, cuz it sounds like the problem is the bat. isnt giving out enought power for the system, and the system is relying on the alternator for power...

but with a high performance deep cycle battery, it gives out more power and recharges faster then stock batteries, so there wont be a huge drain on the cars system and at idel the alternator doesnt put out much power so the stereo runs off the battery...
a battery is only as effective as its charging system man. If u invest money anywhere spend it on your alternator man a bigger battery is useless if the alternator cant keep up. You said that the highs go funny too when the amp shuts off the bass. Maybe the deck is clipping I would bet protection is what is causing your amp to cut out. perhaps undervoltage or too low an ohm load
