bass solution for limited 250rms power
Hey all.
Part of my downsizing involves me going with some component's up front, and just a single small footprint digital amp. My old solution was a Excelon sub in a ported box built to spec seeing around 600 watts rms. Plenty of oomph, but it was a big box and I dont have room for my hockey gear and that box in the trunk!
So with my new amp, (4 channel) I will see 250-300 watts rms. My components are Boston Acoustic SR 60's.
Im going for SQ, and efficiency so that it can play somewhat loud and clear. Any thoughts or input on an ideal solution? ported 10"? 2 sealed 10's? 2 sealed 8's?!?
Thoughts, any advice appreciated.....

single 12" in a ported box will do the trick. Look for entry/mid level subs as they tend to be most efficient and work well in the 200-300 watts range, but still have just as good sq as the more expensive models (you pay for power handling and all that's required for that). A few to consider: boston g1, g2, alpine type s can be used in a fairly small ported box..1.25cubes. Truth is, sealed will get plenty loud for normal listening, so depending on how much bass you want, that may be an option as the box can be much smaller.
