Is it a good idea to run a Batcap and a regular deep cycle batt on the same amp?

This guy wants to know if he can get away with a stock 150 amp alt, Optima red under the hood and a Batcap 800 on a 2000x.

Whatcha think?

 

I'm running a batcap 800 with a deep cycle battery up front. On a 80 amp alt, all running a V4000xd. So far no problems.

I'm guessing that amp isn't as much of a pig as the 2000X though. I think he'll be fine, anyone else?

 

what is a battcap, anyhow?

is it essentially a bigger cap with more storage capacity?

 

yeah, it's basically a battery wit hthe discharge rate of a cap, so in effect you get a huge cap.

Should be fine, I'd recommend just an alt. upgrade, wouldn't that typically cheaper? I was under the impression that the larger Batcaps were quite expensive maybe not. [img]smile.gif[/img]
