what would be the difference between the JL Audio 8W3v3-4 and zr 600 series for mid bass in a 3 way active system. The only main diff i see is the upper freq response range.
if i where to cross at 50hz, and 150 for the 4 inch mid range would that work /\

Talking

I'm running the 8s up to 300hz or so.....I keep fiddling with the settings pretty much every day.....which is why I need to finish my install and get the Xover I have safely hidden under some plexi.....

Yeah, well out of the selection i asked about, one plays up to 150 and the other up to 500.

Would it be better to have 8 inch play from 55-150 and 4inch from there up.

Or another 8 inch play 55-300 and have 4 inch play from there up

Thumbs up

I would suggest a 5.25 instead of a 4 to go with the 8 and the tweet....the midrange out of the larger driver will sound better and it's easier to get the drivers to blend properly.....

Juan,

I have the ZR 8"s sitting at home NIB, and I can get the 8W1's through work. Let me know and we can build some test boxes.

Most 4" won't be too happy playing down to 150hz. Either raise the crossover point or use a larger mid.

Both the JL and ZR are subwoofers. If you want midbass, use a midbass.

They might market it as a midbass but everything about that driver says it's a woofer. Although in this case the OP doesn't really want midbass, they want bass from thier doors so it is probably a good choice for them.
