The stuff from the futureshop, CND Tire... And no, I'm not affiliated with Digital Designs. I don't need to sell their equipment. It sells itself just fine.

Ive saved hundreds of dollars buying my stuff over the net. All from people on this site.

Look in the for sale section, you dont need to buy over the net, you can do so in person.

If I was to buy from Mach 5 I would go with the MAW-10. But where can I find a amp to power that thing that I can afford. It would be 65 for the sub plus 70 for a good box. So unless I can find am amp for 160 bucks, that BassLink would be a better deal.

So does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap amp then?
IMO I'd do the following...

Order the Mach5 MAW-12(support Canadian, I just did) for $70. Mark the owner is an awesome guy. Send him a cheque if you don't want to do paypal.

Buy a box locally for it, what you do save on the sub you can spend on the box or the amp, and still be happy with the sound that this sub produces. Maybe $100 for a good sealed 12" box on sale somewhere.

Lastly, purchase an 350-400rms amp from "Smartass". If he'll take payment by cheque or money order then your flying. He's got great amps for around $100+ that'll give you enough to power that sub and maybe your front's as well. If you need the wirin,g he's the man on that count as well.

You'll be taken careof by two really great guy's who stand by their products and will be there for you through and through. You won't be disappointed.

also, if you have the tools, or access to them, you can build a box yourself. the supplies would be less than $50 and it would only take a few hours of your time to build

Well for the box I will just buy one. Find one on sale for 100 bucks?, All local car audio places sell brand name boxes for about 60 for 10's and 70 for 12's. I do have everything needed to build any kind of box, I just have no need to.

As for buying an amp from Smartass, everything he has under 195 bucks either doesn't put out enough power (160W @ 4OHMS), is a demo model (aka used) or is made by Ultimate (I know a couple people who had horrible experiences with their products). The best thing he has is a JBL for 195 that puts out 300W @ 4OHMS. Good amp, its just that it puts me over my budget.

I have heard a couple 200W RMS subs and they put out all the bass I need. I don't want to go over my budget to buy power and bass that I don't need. So far, the BassLink looks like my best bet. If I could find a sub and amp putting out over 200W over the net that is within my budget, then of course I will buy it. It just looks like that isn't possible.

As for meeting someone in person to buy something used instead of sight unseen over the net. I live in the prairies, so the person would have to be in Saskatoon because the cities aren't 20 minutes apart like southern Ontario.

Hey buddy, just trying to help you out like everyone else previously. There is life outside the 20 minute radius of Littletown Saskatchewan, you got to just give it a chance.

Sounds like you already know what you want anyway...

Maybe your best bet is a 8" Visonic amplified base tube at the local discount warehouse. All you need then is a leadwire from your deck to the tube, no mess no fuss and maybe $75 total.

Later....

Goodluck.

From the sounds of it.. I think the 8" visonik tube is the way to go.. I heard they can add quite of bit of low end to your music.

Sorry to butt in...

If you want a first hand look at the MAW's, head over to the Mach 5 forum and look up the user 'aneonrider'. He lives in Saskatoon and has MAW-10's running in his car. He's a nice guy. I'm sure if you PM him, he'll be happy to discuss things.

Best regards,
Mark
