Sounds like a MAW15 running off of 150-200 watts RMS would do the job fine for him.
Remember, greater efficiency from the larger cone area.

Well that was the amp I was going to suggest. The JBL CS300.1

The difference between 160W and 200W will be imperceptible to you. I say go with the smaller amp and you'll be fine. Don't forget that efficiency comes into play here. Not sure what it is on the MTX sub but if you get a sub with a higher efficiency (or a ported instead of sealed enclosure) you won't need as much power to get it as loud as one with a lower efficiency.

First off, are you people in Ontario embarrassed by people like THAD? In Saskatchewan we feel embarrassed when someone here talks so idiotically about other parts of Canada, such as Ontario. Saskatoon is littletown Saskatchewan...did you fail Canadian geography? Anyway its 2 1/2 hours to Regina, 6 to Edmonton, 6 1/2 to Calgary, 5 1/2 to Winnipeg...

Well Smartass made me a great offer on that JBL amp. I am just waiting to find out from him why his site and JBL's official site list contradicting specs about the amp. If that ends up working, I will probably buy a MAW-12 from MACH 5 and go from there.

I find it weird that your looking on the NET.
Yet you won't buy from it.You want us to do your shopping for you?

emerica_55 02-19-2007 09:48 PM

No, I want you to give me advice on what you feel are the best products available. I originally asked what people thought of a couple of options I found at local stores. People started suggesting that I should purchase over the internet. I have realized that there are better deals on the internet, but I am still unsure whether or not I will anything over it. I have already run into a problem with a product that I was thinking of buying, with the seller listing specs that are different than those on the products official site. For now I am just weighing my options.

Hey listen e-America#55 , I wasn't about to retort to your dimunitive tone as mine wasn't in the first place, however, I know that Littletown is Saskatoon in Saskatchewan, and as such referred to it in that manner. Please don't insult my intelligence. My intention wasn't to insult you, but to incite you to see there is a bigger world that you're reaching out to and wants to help, but you're tossing roadblocks along the way.

As I mentioned, IMO, means "in my opinion" specifically, and not the opinion of others, whether they're in Ontario or elsewhere for that matter. It's a quick way to distance yourself from ultimate goal here.

My apologies for going out on a limb as I'm fairly new to the game as well and not a substantial poster if you look at my profile, but have learned by foraging just like most others do. I was only trying to assist you the best I could as IMO you've narrowed down your method of purchasing to a finite corner where most people cannot offer you assistance if they're not familiar to your locale. There are a number of good recommendations offered to you in many of the previous posts from people with fantastic industry experience and reliable backgrounds, I'm just trying to help you with what I've experienced dealing with such people. I think you ought to review them carefully and see if they don't make sense to you. Others who've replied to assist are just as concerned to help you on your way.

Reserve your affable comments to a more appropriate venue, not one that's offering you constructive advice or criticism. This is what a "forum" is all about.

I still wish you the best of luck and hope you harbor no bad feelings, only an open canvas.

emerica_55,

If Smartass doesn't get you all sorted out you should go to Visions on Circle Drive and talk to Sean. Are you on 306motorclub?

Evan.

I got a pair of Canton 10's I'm trying to sell for $150. Never used. Brand new, still in the box. Beautiful SQ-oriented woofers. If you're looking to add some accurate bass for your system, these would be good. Too bad I didn't see your post earlier. I was just in S'toon from the 14th to the 17th visiting family and scouting out houses. Very nice city that Toon-town is.
