Best Sub for my Amp Help

So ive put together a very clean and simple system for my car and have everything but a Sub. I have Alpine Comps for the front, Alpine 6 x 9's in the rear and I have an Alpine PDX-5 to power them plus the sub. The amp is rated at 75 x 4 + 300 x 1 (Birthsheet says 104 x 4 and 374 x 1) I Wanted an Alpine Type-R 12" (Alpine's site says RMS power range is between 200W and 500W) but I was told the sub would be Underpowered by the PDX-5 and I should go with the Type-S 12" (RMS range between 50W and 300W) as it would be more efficient and would sound better. My question is will this Amp push the Type-R or should I get the the Type-S? My other option, although its a little more $$ is to go with a 12W3V3. Any comments would be helpful, thanks.

If your never going to run more then 300W (I assume your amp is rated in Wrms) I would get the type S. No point in paying more for what your never going to use.

In that power range I would look at a pair of the JL 10W0 V2s....they are priced around the $100 mark these days and if you have the space for a pair they would do a nice job on that amp......

My $0.02 worth.....

Thanks for the suggestions, I actually considered doing the 2 10's and looked at the 10w0v2's. Since I plan on going with a sealed box, the box for the 10's wont be all that big either since it would only be 1.3 cu.ft for both. The Type-S 12" calls for 1.25 cu.ft. Will I notice a difference in sound spending a little extra and moving up to the w1's? although im really not a fan of the silver colour. I had 2 12W1's in my CRX back in the early 90's with a 200w Audio Art amp running them and they sounded awesome so im sure the W0's will sound great as well.

If you are only feeding them 300W I wouldn't bother with the W1s....the W0s are very efficient speakers and that 300W is an ideal amount of power for 2 of them.....

If you can give them each 1cuft each (sealed or ported at 32hz) you will be very happy with those speakers....
