There's a whole bunch of suggestions on the 'Stolen' sub-forum. I used to be paranoid with the system in my last car. I'd constantly be watching in my review for people that seemed to be following me when I went home from work.

Keep in mind too, that revealing too much info on forums like these can help thieves track you. I know It's hard not to post your ride/system pictures, but talking too much about where you live (and where you shop for gear) can backfire. (Especially when you don't block out your plates in pictures).

But at any rate, if I were to have my ideal security system, part of it would include ear splitting sirens, and some strobe lights, the kind that make you have seizures, lol.

Keep your car looking stock, and don't blast it around the area your going to park it. The "choose who your friends are" was a good suggestion too.

GPS tracking and something that permanently locks the doors once they're in.

Unless your GPS tracking is on the equipment, its not going to do much. I would rather them steal the car as I would actually get insurance money for it; since most insurance companies wont payout for audio equipment. If they do, you'll be better off just setting aside that amount of money as you'll be able to rebuy everything, rather then fighting with the insurance company and getting nothing anyways.

Locking them in also seems like a bad idea...

This was a suggestion I thought was fun... put the self powered alarm horns inside the car so they have to hear it as they steal your stuff

If they break in, once they shut the door, the doors and windows oughta lock and the alarm goes off - they'd have to break the windows to get out, you don't need a GPS tracker, just something that notifies cops. You want to catch these fkers, not annoy them. It's a bad idea if they screw things up while locked in and then you have to pay for it. You could also replace your windows with ones that don't break, and doors/trunks that just don't open with crowbars.

fake face plates combined with common sense is the best deterrent. There's no market for stock, average looking equipment. This was one fake face from a previous set up. It was so good that my brother tried to feed it a cd and asked what was wrong with my deck as the cd jammed in the slot. When I removed the fake face, he just smiled and said damn that looks real!
