thats a good idea, it looks legit and would turn em away if they could see in.
Ok, so other than the extreme cost of this...scenario
u get into an accident, your doors mangled and the firefighters cant get the door open...and cant break your window....now what?
basically, theres no way to stop thieves, if they want it that bad, there gonna get it, no matter what u do.
best anti theft, don't own anything of value, period.

fake face plates combined with common sense is the best deterrent. There's no market for stock, average looking equipment. This was one fake face from a previous set up. It was so good that my brother tried to feed it a cd and asked what was wrong with my deck as the cd jammed in the slot. When I removed the fake face, he just smiled and said damn that looks real!
Also, do not go to a repair shop that looks a bit shifty! A neighbour of mine brought his truck to a shop and they stripped his audio system!

A friend of mine brought his car to CT to get something fixed. He had to leave it over night. When he went back in the morning to pick it up, it wasn't parked outside. He went in and asked about it and they said they had nothing on record. Basically told him he never brought the car there.
He flipped out, got the cops involved, and by the end of the day, it turned out the a disgruntled employee working in the automotive bays quit. He erased all of buddies info from their system, took his keys, stole his car, and stripped it just outside of town.
You can't trust anywhere these days...

yes it is...made from an old defective Ford deck I had kicking around. All you have to do is remove the front face of the deck and all the buttons and super glue them in place, add a backing or in my case a cd case to slide into the slot on the head unit installation adpator and that's it. All other speakers are behind factory panels or integrated as stock. You can get cheap oem decks on ebay or at some junk yards, buy and sell etc... and make your own. I've used this theft deterrent for 20 years now and it's worked.

yeah I live in one of those. Usually what happens is they break into the house, assault the owner if they're there, steal stuff and put it in the car before they steal it and it's stereo...not sure that's better. In fact, in the last year there have been 9 home invasions in my predominantly white, affluent neighbourhood. I'd take the stereo only thefts over that any day.
